República del Cacao presented the concept of "Cacao Talks" together with the Global Compact Ecuador and UN Women. In this edition the focus of discussion was around the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) promoted by UN Women.

The Women's Empowerment Principles are a set of good business practices that promote equality between women and men in all areas of management. This initiative proposes the creation of development opportunities for women within public and private companies, their participation in leadership and decision making, equal pay for equal work, and the generation of training, qualification and continuous professional development offers.

Lorena Barba, Gender Planning and Budgeting Officer of UN Women Ecuador was the special guest of the event; presenting the 7 principles proposed to promote the implementation of best practices with a gender approach in the management of private companies. " Let's think in equality, let's build with intelligence, let's innovate for change", was one of the closing reflections mentioned in the presentation with the objective of making visible the opportunity to adopt policies and invest in the promotion of gender equality in organizations.

Ana Cristina Lapentty, Avon's Legal and Government Affairs Manager, was invited to present the good practices that the company has had over the years with the leadership in the implementation of the Women's Empowerment Principles and the important return that this has meant. "Beauty is free when you feel empowered" shared Ana Cristina in one of her speeches.

The event also featured several organizations from the banking sector, cosmetics industry, fashion, social entrepreneurship, consultants, lawyers and chefs; who took advantage of the space to connect from the purpose of each of their organizations sharing their vision towards the implementation of gender equity principles.

Special guests were Turucucho's dairy-farming allies with whom the company is working to strengthen a vision of female leadership towards the implementation of shared value projects.

The event was promoted by República del Cacao through its "Cacao Talks" project . The objective of this project is to promote dialogues in dynamic spaces that seek to share perspectives from different sectors on sustainable development issues.
