Latin America Has a Special Flavor: The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2018 List

For the second consecutive year, Maido, the restaurant in Lima, Peru, has received the #1 ranking on the Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants 2018 list. The sixth annual edition of this awards ceremony recognizing the best gastronomy in Latin America was held this Tuesday, October 30th, at the Ágora Convention Center in Bogotá, Colombia, in the presence of international chefs, restaurateurs, sommeliers, influencers, journalists, and gourmands.

Led by chef Mitsuharu ‘Micha’ Tsumura, Maido restaurant in Lima has once again been proclaimed the Best Restaurant in Latin America and the Best Restaurant in Peru. Maido is a space where visitors can savor dishes based on Nikkei cuisine, which surprisingly fuses Peruvian and Japanese flavors, delighting all its diners.

This year, the second place on the list of Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants is held by Central, also in Lima, Peru, led by Pía León and Virgilio Martínez; third place on the list is Pujol, by Enrique Olvera, in Mexico City; followed by Boragó in Santiago in fourth position and D.O.M. in Sao Paulo in fifth place, and who were added to the list to receive the titles of The Best Restaurant in Mexico, Chile, and Brazil, respectively.
