Cacao Talks: Republic of Cacao and WFP 2024
In October 2023, República del Cacao became the first Ecuadorian SME to sign a work agreement with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). This organization, awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2020, provides support to countries in conflict situations with food assistance, helps smallholder farmers improve productivity, and boosts human capital through school feeding programs.
Within the framework of the “Project to Promote the Consumption of Cocoa and Bananas for Nutrition,” República del Cacao and the WFP are joining forces to promote sustainability, fine aroma cocoa, and community development. Therefore, to mark the end of the first year of work, a Cacao Talk was organized, a knowledge-sharing space where the private sector, international cooperation, guilds, and local producers gathered in an environment of learning, inspiration, and commitment to a better future.

Here, the collaboration between República del Cacao and the WFP was highlighted; this partnership has sought to comprehensively strengthen the value chain in the cocoa sector, as well as to promote the consumption of cocoa and bananas in healthy and delicious dishes, combining them with other local ingredients. This reflects both institutions’ commitment to nutrition and health in communities, offering dietary options that promote the well-being of the population.
During the Cacao Talk, it was evident that fine cacao is not only a premium product enjoyed worldwide but also an opportunity to build more sustainable and resilient communities.
República del Cacao and the World Food Programme reaffirmed their commitment to continue working together for sustainable and fair cocoa.
Together we are changing the world, one cocoa bean at a time!
